About
I am Barry Creamer, a Tipperary based Irish Abstract Artist. Influenced by the pioneering styles of Rothko, Pollock, Warhol, and Basquiat and the sounds of early 90's Seattle.
My creations are a reflection of my personal journey, lived experience and influences from Art & Music over the years, my art has evolved to capture both the highs and lows of life.
I specialise in Large Canvas Expressive Abstract work. I use Acrylic and Spray paint primarily but will draw on multi mediums to match the project. My approach to art is every day is a school day and I constantly develop my technique and approach. I am available for private and commercial commission work. If you have any inquiries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at info@dergart.ie.
Artistic Timeline — Barry Creamer
Early Years — Obsession & Curiosity
From as early as I can remember, I was obsessed with drawing, sketching, and painting. Art was my first language. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I poured myself into creating, eventually studying Honours Art up until my Leaving Certificate.
2000’s — A Long Pause
After finishing school, life took me in other directions, and I downed tools for nearly 20 years. Although art never left my mind, it lived quietly in the background—waiting.
2019 — A Turning Point
A significant life event sparked something in me, and in the autumn of 2019 I picked up a paintbrush again for the first time in two decades.
My first piece was a study of Pearl Jam’s “Avocado” album cover—the painting that reopened the door.
2019–2025 — Rebirth & Relentless Creation
Once that door was open, I never closed it. Since 2019 I’ve created over 100 pieces, evolving my practice into expressive, large-scale abstract work that blends acrylics, spray paint, mixed mediums, and texture-driven techniques.
2025 — Stepping Into the Public Eye
In 2025, I exhibited publicly three times, marking a major milestone in this revived artistic journey. Each exhibition reaffirmed that this is where I belong—immersed in colour, texture, emotion, and expression.
Today — An Artist Fully Returned
I haven’t looked back. My work continues to evolve every day as I push boundaries, experiment with dimension and texture, and chase the emotional honesty that fuels my art.
